My name is Christina Calloway and I’m a journalist so trust me when I say, people inhale the news. We have a right to know what’s going on in the world so I’d like to provide that for you with some comedy. Comedy is what keeps us engaged and puts the news into perspective.
Delafreshnews.com features stories covering a variety of topics with comedic insight. Whether you watch the news, listen to the news, read online, or pick it up off your doorstep every morning, add Delafreshnews to your daily mix to get your news fix. Delafreshnews may or may not be exactly what all the papers and stations are covering, but I promise to deliver a good story every time.
A little bit about this girl: I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. In high school, I took on my first major leadership position working with Huckleberry Youth Programs, a non-profit organization serving at-risk youth in the Bay Area. I facilitated many girls groups and I helped empower youth to make a change in their communities working to break the cycle of violence. In 2007, I moved to Houston, TX to attend Texas Southern University. During those four years, I served in many leadership roles and gained experience through various internships at newspapers, magazines, non-profits, and government offices. A partial list includes: Greater Southeast Management District, Huckleberry Youth Programs (Communication), The Defender, Health and Fitness Sports Magazine, and the California Public Utilities Commission. My biggest leadership role to date was serving as Editor in Chief of Texas Southern University’s newspaper, The Herald. I put in three years at The Herald before running for the position. I grew with that position and turned the newspaper around by improving its structure and circulation. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from TSU in May of 2011 with a BA in Journalism and a minor in Accounting.
As of now I am a reporter for the Portales News Tribune in Portales, New Mexico. I am also a freelance writer, multimedia journalist, and social media correspondent.
Please feel free to check out my published work page featuring some of the work I’ve done for The Herald, Houston newspaper The Defender, KTSU 90.9 The Choice, the Portales News Tribune and a variety of other publications.
